I had a pretty happy weekend. We went out to eat at Tucci Bennuch on Friday night. I did my best to remember that I’m trying to lose weight ... and I did an “okay” job. Not great, but decent. (As a side: I have lost 7 pounds ... You can decide if you think that’s good or not, considering I started 9 weeks ago. My goal is 15 pounds, so I’m nearly halfway there. And basically I have a really good week and then a stagnant week, a good week, a stagnant week. I’m okay with that as long as I keep losing. I want to stick this out through the whole maintenance phase this time. Last year, when I stopped going to weight watchers, I didn’t do so great and gained back 10 of the 16 pounds I had lost!) Anyway, dinner was good and then we went over to Ikea to look at counter-tops. The whole night kind of got away from us and we ended up staying a lot longer than we intended to. Fortunately, Rosemary handled it all pretty well even though it got to be past her bedtime.
Saturday I had my massage that I previously whined about. :-/ I’m still trying to work up the nerve to call about it. I figure if I don’t call today than it’s too late. So if I’m going to call, I’ve got to do it before the end of the business day today. We didn’t have any obligations on Saturday, so that was nice. We went to Barnes and Noble where I bought The Happiest Toddler on the Block, Joel got a book, and we spent some time at Starbucks eating cookies and drinking coffee (Rosemary drank milk, of course). Then we went to Old Navy to find a rain/spring coat for Rosemary. Joel also took her on the Carousel. She really likes that thing, thank God it’s only $1 to ride it.
Sunday we went to church – our usual church. Joel had to do the display during both services, but Rosemary and I just stayed for the first service. Our friend Tommy was there, so I was really glad I went (I almost went to the 1st Covenant church because they were going to have a petting zoo there). Tommy left for Iraq after the service, so I was glad to have the chance to give him a hug and say goodbye. Rosemary LOVES Tommy, so she was really happy to see him to and she drew him a picture during the service. It was seriously the first time she ever got really into coloring and she was even telling me what she was coloring (a combination of an airplane, a bug, a flower, and a shower).
We went home for Rosemary’s nap and she woke up shortly after Joel got home from church. I did a little cleaning and then we went to Joel’s parents house for lunch. All the cousins were there and Rosemary just ... played with them. I mean, I just basically sat on the couch all afternoon. It was crazy (and really nice!). Then we went home, took Owen for a walk, ate sweet potatoes (mmmmmm), and took it easy. After Rosemary went to sleep we watched Rushmore – which is *hilarious.* I saw it years ago in a setting where I couldn’t really pay attention to it and I’m so glad I watched it again. It was great!
More and more my weekends are relaxing and it is so nice. I love it!

Remember that entry when I said I drank a diet coke and it tasted like dirt? Well, the one that I just drank did not taste like dirt. And the one I had yesterday didn’t taste like dirt either. Ugh. The thing is I started weight watchers again. My company is sponsoring it, the meetings are at work, and they are giving us a very pretty discount. Since all my skinny jeans stopped fitting shortly after I quit weight watchers last summer ... I decided it would be wise to get on board.
I drink a lot of water, a decent amount of milk, and there is something in my mind that needs a special treat every day. There are not a whole lot of acceptable treats when you’re trying to lose weight. Well, I know that giving it up was not THAT hard, so I decided I’m taking it back up and will give it up once I am a lifetime member and am maintaining my weight instead of trying to lose weight.
That’s reasonable, right?

I would like to do a dietary cleanse. I did the Daniel Fast last January and then immediately after that I started Weight Watchers Core Plan. I didn't do the Daniel Fast to lose weight, it was just a coincidence that I did it right before starting Weight Watchers. I was eating very healthily and I really felt good. Lately I have been eating lots of carbs and junk - not really "junk" junk, I mean I could be eating a lot worse. But I haven't been eating as well as I was and it is taking it's toll on my body. I can honestly tell that I'm not eating as well.
So after the Great Minnesota Get-Together, I want to do a cleanse. I know some of you on my friends list have done cleanses, so I'm wondering if you can tell me what exactly you did? I may do the Daniel Fast again as it's nice to be focusing on my health *and* my relationship with the Lord, and I have been feeling I need some focus in that area. But we shall see.
