Joel took Rosemary to the conservatory today and ... lost Ducky! For those of you who don’t know, Ducky is Rosemary’s lovey/security blanket. We actually have a backup, but we left it at a friends house in Maple Grove, and it’s been low priority to go and get it since Maple Grove is a good 40 minute drive. She’s done okay without it if/when we forget to bring it to Nana’s house or to Kiki’s house. However, it’s such a serious part of her bedtime routine that I can’t imagine she’ll be happy going to bed without it. Plus, if she wakes up in the middle of the night and can’t find Ducky in her bed, she’ll cry for him until we come and help her find it.

It’s snowing something fierce outside and I’m not looking forward to a drive to Maple Grove. I’m willing to do it ... but I can’t get a hold of the friend who has it! Le sigh.

Joel completely retraced his steps and asked a bunch of people if they found anything. He also left his phone number with the lost and found in case they do find it. :-( In the meantime, I looked on ebay and found a bunch of other Duckies. And you know what? Since they are no longer being made, there must be quite a market for them! I just paid $25 for one, since I know we’re going to need a spare (I see absolutely no reason to wean her off of Ducky any time soon). I am sure the thing cost $9.99 new ... (I don’t know for sure, it was a shower gift ... but it’s just your basic little blankey that you see in any kids section of a store).
